Apple Galette with Ice Cream & Winter Orange Balsamic Star
Posted by Colleen Cavalieri on

Just as delicious as apple pie with half the work! Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a generous drizzle of sweet & spiced goodness.
INGREDIENTS:
- Winter Orange Balsamic Star
- 3 - 4 apples, peeled and sliced into ¼ inch slices (about 4–5 cups)
- ¼ cup (50g) packed light or dark brown sugar, or sweetener of your choice - don't use a liquid alternative
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Optional: add 1 and ½ Tbsp (12g) all-purpose flour (we made it without this and was just as delicious!
DIRECTIONS:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, or butter a pie dish generously.
- This dish is made easy because of some hand dandy pre-made pastry from the store. Put pastry on the baking sheet / pie dish.
- In a bowl, put apples, cinnamon and sweetener of choice, and mix well. *optional, add your all purpose flour in at this stage too.
- Arrange the apples into the center of the pastry dough, leaving a 2–3-inch border all around them. You can simply spoon the filling on, or arrange the apple slices in a more deliberate design, such as concentric circles.
- Gently fold the edges of the dough over the filling, overlapping the dough as necessary. Press gently to seal the edges. Brush the crust edges generously with egg wash and sprinkle the crust with coarse sugar, if desired. If desired, drizzle 3 Tablespoons of salted caramel over the filling (not the crust).
- Refrigerate for at least 15–20 minutes as the oven preheats.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
- Bake until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown, about 35–36 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.
- Now here’s the best part. Serve each slice of Apple Tart with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, then drizzle Winter Orange Balsam Star on top. Delicious!!!
